Bermuda

Bermuda sod can be a great option for this with all day sun. Bermuda is a dense, fine-textured, low-growing grass with a deep root system. Considered a vigorous grower. This warm-season turf grass has an excellent heat tolerance up to 110 degrees, wear resistance and will recover quickly if damaged. It has excellent cold and drought tolerance. Its disease-resistant qualities will help add many years to the life of your turf grass with fewer maintenance requirements.

Fescue

If you prefer longer blade grass that does well in the shade and is soft to the touch, Carolina Blue Fescue is a blend of top-rated tall fescue varieties and heat-tolerant bluegrass. Ideal for the foothills of South Carolina and North Carolina, Caroline Blue II Fescue has good drought recovery and tolerance. Carolina Fresh Blue II was designed to provide exceptional color and density. Blue II contains 70 percent turf-type tall fescue of two varieties and 30 percent Kentucky bluegrass of two varieties. Bluegrass has seen amazing advancements in recent years and offers excellent drought recovery and a deep green color during the cooler months of late winter.


Zoysia

For sun as well as shaded areas and growing significantly in popularity, Palisades Zoysia is a vegetatively produced, medium-broad textured, high-density turf noted for its shade tolerance and low water-use requirements. Developed by Texas A&M University to withstand drought, Palisades has proven itself to be an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes. With its low light requirements, Palisades has also proven itself useful when addressing shady areas in the landscape. Palisades Zoysia is an ideal choice for residential and commercial sites throughout South Carolina. Palisades Zoysia has a medium texture leaf which stands upright similar to tall fescue. This upright growth allows for mowing heights from 3″ down to 1/2″ for applications such as golf tee boxes. Due to the aggressive rhizomes of this variety, it will thrive in a wide variety of soil profiles found throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. Palisades is suitable from full sun to partial shade.
